Can You Use a Shampoo Bar Every Day?

Shampoo bars are an incredible alternative to liquid shampoo. They’re compact, convenient, and leave your hair feeling soft and clean. However, some users wonder if they should use a shampoo bar every day. After all, shampoos often have beneficial ingredients that help maintain healthy hair and prevent buildup from residue left behind by conditioner. But is it safe to use a shampoo bar every day? Let’s find out!

How Often Do You Use Shampoo?

Your age often has a lot to do with it. Teens usually need to shampoo their hair daily. However, as you age, you may use shampoo as little as once a week. Why the difference? The shampoo you use—whether it’s a liquid shampoo or a shampoo bar—can strip your hair of its natural oils, which is actually very bad for your hair!

But even more important than the loss of this protective oil layer is the alkalinity of the shampoo. An alkaline shampoo makes your hair dry and brittle. In fact, the more often you wash your hair with an alkaline shampoo, the more likely you are to experience hair loss.

Is It Safe to Use a Shampoo Bar Every Day?

Because our shampoo bars don’t contain the same ingredients as liquid shampoo, using one every day is safe. In fact, you don’t even need to use conditioner with our shampoo bar! Do you know why? We include the most conditioning ingredient for your hair’s surface right in our bar—acetic acid.

Our shampoo bars don’t strip your hair of its natural oils, so using it won’t leave your hair dry and brittle. In fact, if you have fine hair, you may want to use our shampoo bar every day. That’s because our shampoo bars are designed to make your hair denser. If you have thin hair, and you use a shampoo bar every day, you may notice that your hair appears thicker. (Is that why my uncle hasn’t shared the bar I gave him with my aunt?)

What are the Signs You Should Skip Using a Shampoo Bar for a Day?

If you notice your hair becoming dry, you don’t need to wash your hair every day. Instead, take advantage of the fact our shampoo bar doesn’t strip your hair of its natural oils and wait until your hair looks oily again. This may take a day or two—or even a week.

Another consideration is if you use blow dryers and styling appliances on your hair. These can dry your hair out. So if you find your hair is looking dry and lackluster, you may need to cut back on how frequently you wash your hair and/or limit your use of hot styling tools.

Are There Any Drawbacks to Using a Shampoo Bar Every Day?

Of course, your shampoo bar doesn’t last as long if you use it every day. However, most people find they go through liquid shampoo quickly if they shampoo daily, so it’s not a major drawback. Ultimately, you’re the one who’ll decide how often you need to wash your hair. You may be able to get away with using a shampoo bar every two or three days or even seven days.

As we’ve discussed above, there are no drawbacks to using a shampoo bar every day if you have oily hair. However, if you have dry skin, you may also need to watch out for dry hair. Washing too frequently, even with a shampoo bar that’s pH adjusted and rich in glycerin, could strip your hair of moisture.

Summary

Shampoo bars are an incredibly convenient and effective alternative to liquid shampoo. And, there are no drawbacks to using one every day if the formula is rich in glycerin (a moisturizing ingredient) and acidic (folicle smoothing ingredient). Whether you have oily, dry, or thin hair, a shampoo bar will leave your hair feeling clean and fresh. So, why not try one out?
