The Benefits of Using a Shampoo Bar

benefits of using shampoo bars

Shampoo bars are a convenient way to wash your hair. They’re a little bigger than a bar of soap and can be used with just your hands. You don’t need to use a special shampooing technique or special tools—all you need is water and your shampoo bar. Plus, they come in many different scents and can be used on all hair types. There are many benefits of using a shampoo bar. Let’s take a look!

  • Less Waste – Shampoo bars are a great way to reduce waste. Ours are made from all-natural ingredients, so they don’t have a bunch of harmful chemicals like traditional liquid shampoos do. The suds go down the drain without putting anything harmful into our water supplies. [Source]
  • Convenient – You don’t need to use a special shampooing technique or special tools to use our shampoo bar. All you need is water and your shampoo bar. We use the hot-process soap making method, so the bar is lathers up quickly with just enough water to wet your hair. You can take it with you when you travel, too!
  • Gentle on All Hair Types – Our shampoo bars are gentle on all hair types, even sensitive scalps.
  • Safe for All Ages – Unfortunately, our shampoo bars aren’t tear-free, so even though they’re safe for use by kids and babies, the suds will sting if they get into your eyes.
  • Mild and Smells Great – Our shampoo bars are mild and won’t dry out your scalp like regular shampoo. Plus, they come in many different scents. Each scent we use is 100% natural and usually based on essential oils.
  • Eco-friendly – Our shampoo bar is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional liquid shampoos. And because a bar can last for several months, they can often be cheaper.

Using a Shampoo Bar

Using a shampoo bar is pretty simple.

  • Wet your hair thoroughly. Wet hair makes it easier to work up a good head of suds.
  • Use a soap net so the shampoo bar is easier to grip. (The net will also help with getting the shampoo bar to lather up.
  • Just massage the shampoo bar across your scalp in a circular motion. Add a bit more water if necessary.
  • Massage the lather into your hair, working from the scalp to the ends. Leave for a few minutes if you have scalp buildup.
  • If your hair is really long, remember you need most of the suds at your scalp, not at the ends of your hair.
  • Rinse. Your hair is clean if it doesn’t feel sticky.

Frequency for Using a Shampoo Bar

Using a shampoo bar daily is perfectly safe, especially when you’re using the All for Better Health (AFTB) shampoo bar. We don’t use the same ingredients as liquid shampoos. We use carefully chosen plant-based oils known to be good for your hair. And lye is only bad if it’s left behind in the bar. If it’s done its job of fully saponifying the oils, it’s harmless.

In addition, you may have heard shampoo bars strip your hair of its natural oils and make it too dry. That’s also only true if the bar is low in glycerin and alkaline. If you add acetic acid, like we do, the shampoo bar becomes conditioning, even in hard water.

If you have oily hair, you can use an AFTB shampoo bar every day, but if your hair is dry, back off to every other day or longer.
