Description
Our all-vegetable soap is animal and earth friendly. It meets the requirements of those who prefer a vegan lifestyle. It also fits the needs of those who live kosher.
(Note: We weigh our soaps at time of packaging. This means the soap may weigh less when you receive it, as soap continues to lose water weight until you hydrate it through use.)
My Story
My concern for what is in my soap began around 2001. Prior to this I had never considered whether the soap I used contained lard or other animal fats that aren’t considered clean by Biblical standards. However, around this time, I began a journey toward coherence with all the Bible says about living a life that blesses the world in which we live.
I never expected to become a soap maker on the path I’d chosen. However, once I began making soap, I was hooked. The science of combining oils for certain qualities is fascinating!
Why Make 100% Vegetable Oil Soap?
How We Chose the Oils in Our All-Vegetable Soap
Apricot Kernel Oil
Our skin absorbs this oil, so using this oil ensures the soap conditions your skin.
Canola Oil
Also known as rapeseed oil, this oil moisturizes while producing a creamy lather. I also l like the fact it slows down the speed at which the soap sets up. That allows me to do more creative things with the soap’s pattern.
Castor Oil
This oil draws moisture into your skin while encouraging a rich non-drying lather.
Cocoa Butter
Known for producing a luxurious, moisturizing and creamy lather, cocoa butter also helps harden the soap.
Coconut Oil
Great at producing a hard bar of soap coconut oil is so super cleansing it dries your skin. This is the primary reason I add other oils instead of making 100% coconut oil soap.
Olive Oil, Pomace
This ancient oil is one of the most moisturizing. However, the lather feels slimy, especially if you have hard water.
Soybean Oil
Soaps containing this oil are mild and moisturizing. The lather it forms is low and creamy.
Summary
We’ve chosen the proportions of each oil to ensure our soap is great for skin from 30 and up. We’ve especially received positive comments from our older customers.
